*How code 128 barcode is different from other barcodes. Code 128 barcode has three subsets (A, B, and C) for efficient data encoding. Its compact size makes it suitable for small spaces and is compatible with various barcode scanners. However, it may not be as widely recognized as other barcode types and requires specialized software and equipment for generation and printing. *Structure of 128 barcode: Code 128 is a high-density linear barcode that can encode a wide range of characters, including alphanumeric data, special characters, and control codes. It is a variable length barcode with three-character sets: Code Set A, Code Set B, and Code Set C. Code Set A contains 103 characters, while Code Set B contains 103 characters and special characters. Code Set C contains only numeric digits and is used to encode numeric data in pairs. The barcode scanner uses the ASCII value of each character to determine the appropriate Code Set for encoding automatically switches between Code 128A and Code 128B based on the encoded data. Code 128 barcodes have a start character indicating the code set used for data encoding, data characters representing encoded data. *Applications of Code-128 barcode: ? Used for inventory management, price labelling, and tracking shipments. Barcode scanners used for quick scanning and updating inventory database. ? Used for tracking parts and components during manufacturing and assembly process. Barcode scanning ensures correct use, reducing errors and defects. ? Used for patient identification, medication management, and tracking medical equipment. Barcode scanning on patient's wristband or medication provides critical information. *Advantages: Code 128 is a self-checking barcode with a checksum digit calculated based on encoded data. It is widely accepted in the industry, making it a convenient choice for many applications. If the recalculated digit doesn't match the barcode, it indicates an error.
